KOICA Alumni Association of Ghana Maiden Beach Clean-Up

As a part of echoing the National Economic Blue Summit in May 2023, “Save Our Beach and Ocean”a beach cleanup activity was conducted by the KOICA Alumni Association of Ghana( KAAG) with support from KOICA Ghana, at Vienna Beach on 10th June, 2023. Approximately 50 members from KAAG enthusiastically participated in the clean-up drive. The team was equipped with all the necessary cleaning tools like gloves, rakes, shovels and all necessary cleaning items. Masks were provided throughout the cleaning activity . A total of 20 full bags of litter was collected after a two-hour vigorous clean-up. From observation, the litter comprised of from different categories like Plastic , Cloths , Paper , Rubber, Glass, Wood, traditional beads waste and Metal .
The president of KAAG gave a short welcome speech which highlighted the theme for the day’s program ‘Save Our Beach and Ocean’. She stated the Cleaning Exercise was also to raise awareness and educate the public about the importance of keeping our beaches and oceans clean in order to change mind sets, leave lasting impact on the environment and the livelihoods of the communities that depend on these coastal areas. She expressed her gratitude to the of KOICA office Ghana, particularly H. E. Director HO, the Country Director for his solid support, the Executives and the entire membership of the Alumni Association of Ghana, the representatives from the media, and prayed the partnership started with Zoomlion and Voltic Company of Ghana will continue to grow
